Friday Warehouse walk… Just in and so excited!

Friday Warehouse walk...Just in and so excited!

Just in from Robert Kaufman, Hello Tokyo, is a new collection from designer Lisa Tilse. We have been waiting for this collection to hit the warehouse and today it finally did. I know you’re going to love it as much as we do. The prints are perfect for apparel, home décor, crafts, and more. The buttons and appliques make this collection even more versatile. Check out our post from last week and see the tuffet we made that would be perfect in this fabric.

New foam tuffet…

Happy hump day. Robin & I want to show you this new product we received. These foam tuffets are perfect next to a bed or chair or as a foot rest. There are so many ways you can go with it. From juvenile, to retro, to funky and so much in between. Really, your imagination is the only thing that will limit you. Have fun and please, if you make one, tag us so we can see it.

2 yards of fabric, pictured here ML247495

1/4  yard of solid fabric of your choice for piping

3 1/3 yards of cotton cording (enough to go around tuffet twice) or use pre made piping, trim, or fringe

1 piece of batting, size of top of tuffet (optional)

1 foam tuffet (18″ diameter/15″ tall)

1 quick pleater. I used the 2 inch pleater

Cut top piece 19″ diameter circle. (to allow for seam allowance)

Cut 4″ band circumference of the tuffet.

Cut 3 widths of fabric at 15″ long each.

The piping was made with 1/4″ cotton cording & a solid fabric.  (you could also use a pre-made piping or use a fringe)

Make sure there is enough to go around the tuffet twice.

Stitch piping to the circle top piece.

Attach 4″ band to piped top piece.

Attach 2nd piece of piping to the bottom of the band. Set aside.

Now, sew the 3 large pieces together to make a loop. (In this case the 3 pieces equalled 3 times the circumference)

Get out your quick pleater & start pleating. I like to pin the pleats in place.

We decided to go with a box pleat, but a knife pleat would also work well.

Hem the bottom. I used the Sealah double sided tape to make is super quick & easy.

Iron the pleats down.

Attach pleated skirt to bottom of band.

Place the batting on top of the tuffet. This is optional, but it will give it a softer look.

Put your slip cover on your tuffet.

Now you have this perfect foot stool or side table that coordinates perfectly with your space.

Here is our finished product…

There are so many fabrics that would work well with this project. Here are a few others we suggest…

ML247510 is one of my favorite fabrics. You can’t go wrong with this beautiful embroidered indigo.

A Shaby Chic linen would be great as well.

I love this Moroccan Ikat print.  The colors are great. I can see this in a tweens room.

Also take a look at the pouf that Lisa Tilse made with the fabric she designed for Robert Kaufman. We should have this fabric in next week. It is really a bold pop of fun.

Fabric Friday

Happy Friday! I’m keeping this one short. We’re working on updating the site, as well as getting ready for our monthly newsletter on September 1st. So much to do & so little time.  As always, these fabrics are in the process of being put online. I will include a link to where they will be once they finish being processed.

Fabric Friday….

I can’t believe how fast the week has gone. We’ve had the best week here. Honestly we just spent time together, took in the island, and ate.20130815-214018.jpg

It is so nice for us all to slow down. No baseball or gymnastics to get to and way less work to be done. I’ll be back in the office next week, but as soon as I hit the post button I’m back outside for my last few days. Oh yes, just a little tease, we will be making an exciting announcement the week after next. We’re getting really excited to welcome a new addition to our social media/project team.  More information to come about her. Have a great weekend and I’ll be back Monday with a quick home decorating post. We land at 5am Los Angeles time, can you say jet lag!

Here are a few new fabrics that have come in since last week…

From Moda, comes Winter’s Lane. It’s a modern Christmas print with a current color pallet. I see a beautiful tree skirt, a table runner, or even a fun circle skirt from the light blue & red print.  The possibilities are endless

I know we’re only in August, but before we know it Halloween will be here. We’re still in the process of adding to our Halloween section, but here are a few items that might get you in the mood…

Another great new product we have is a leather shaper. We’re in the process of making a purse/tote and using it for the bottom. We have 3 different weights depending on your project, the weight of the fabric, and the support your project needs.

Don’t forget to take a look at our cotton prints section. We have been updating it for the last few weeks. While we’re still working on it, I am so pleased with how it is developing. It is easier to navigate, has more defined categories, has many new categories, like Modern & Miniature, and so many new prints to choose from. Also don’t forget all our cotton prints and flannel prints are 10% off everyday.

Fabric Friday, August 8-9-13…

Fabric Friday

How is it Friday again? The weeks just fly by here. Every time I take a warehouse walk there is so much new fabric that it is amazing. Here are a few new products that we just got in. Just a reminder these fabrics are not online yet. They are the newest of the new. I have linked to where they will show up in a few days. We also update the new arrivals page every week. This a another great way to keep on top of all the new product that we’re putting online.

We have had a few people ask us to put ribbing online. We love to hear your feedback. I went to our main warehouse, found some cotton ribbing,
as well as some rayon ribbing and here are a few. They will all be online next week.

I love this laminated cotton. It is right on trend with the chevron print and the bright colors.

This collection called Tailor Made, from Timeless Treasures, is a beautiful flannel and has a great hand. The textured prints really have dimension.
They look like a textured knit as opposed to a flannel print. Really cool!

Since we just blogged a great romper in a silk charmuese, I thought we would put a few more options online.
Some of these are silk charmuese and some are poly charmuese. We’re always looking out for every shopper and their individual budgetary needs.

poly & silk charmuese

Here’s a new basic from Riley Blake called Small Gingham.

The double-faced wool is just gorgeous! Perfect addition to your fall wardrobe.

This beautiful modern collection from Michael Miller is called Waterfront. It was designed by Violet Craft and is clean and fresh. I love the combination of the bridge,
the geometric, the cherry blossom tree, and the birds. They all compliment each other so well.

While I can’t believe summer is coming to an end, we always have a few warm weeks in September & October. If you’re still looking to make a swimsuit here are some beautiful,
made in Italy, solid swimwear. It is also great for activewear, yoga pants, dancewear, and cycling shorts. Make sure to take a look online. I love that we have both shiny & matte.

Here are a few beautiful textured home decorating fabrics from P. Kaufman. The two multi colored ones come backed. They are 80% viscose and 20% cotton. They are backed with 100% polyester.
They would make amazing pillows, dinning room chairs, and more.

Backstage, pkaufman textures

You will be seeing some adorable pajama bottoms on our blog  from this fabric soon. We have so many new flannels, but who doesn’t like Dr. Seuss?
This new collection, from Robert Kaufman, called Cat in the Hat 2, is really bright and perfect for either a boy or girl.

We just received a large batch of new cottons from Alexander Henry. I will be showing more on Facebook this week. They range from Christmas, to Folklorico, to skulls, to Pin Up’s, and a few things in between.
They have some really great novelty prints! This one is called Sea Sirens.  It’s a bit naughty, but also so nice. Love these mermaids!

Since the mermaids were for the guys, here is one for the ladies. Hurry Down the Chimney has 3 prints and they all feature the abs that Santa only wishes he had!

So that is it for this week. Since it was a really heavy cotton print week I will post more on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Have a great weekend!
